There are two main ways of docking; auto docking, and manual docking. Auto docking is a function built into the roomba. This behavior is intentionally disabled from users of the site, but you can attempt to trick the site and press F and the F5 key, which skips some check the rover makes, and enters into the auto docking mode. This would be perfectly adequate for normal roombas, but these models are flawed in their contact surfaces (which get gunked up, making the roomba never reach docked mode) and sensor array (plastic lens on the front of the roomba getting scratched). We still don't know why a scratched sensor cover would cause this behavior. All of these issues would probably be fixed if Carpet cleaned the contacts every 1-3 months.
