1 | # Docking (roomba action) |
| 2 | ||||||||
3 | Roomba rovers need to charge their batteries frequently. To do this, there are multiple docking stations in [[Carpet's Basement.|Places/Carpet's Basement (Place)]] |
4 | |||||||
5 | |||||||
| 6 | Each docking station is a typical Roomba Docking Station (citation needed). These consist of an infrared light which the roomba tracks, a plastic housing, and a positive and negative charging pad, which the roomba's own receptacles come into contact with when properly aligned. |
| 7 | ||||||||
| 8 | There are two main ways of docking. |
| 9 | ||||||||
| 10 | Auto docking, and manual docking. |
| 11 | ||||||||
| 12 | Auto docking is a function built into the roomba, which you can activate at the click of a button. Users are instructed to line up straight-on, about 1 foot from the docking station, before clicking the button, so that the roomba can easily find the docking station. |
| 13 | ||||||||
| 14 | Manual docking is a simple action, where the user simply has to manually drive the roomba up onto the dock in order to line it up. |
| 15 | ||||||||
| 16 | ||||||||
| 17 | Whichever method is used, when the roomba detects that contact has been made with the charge pads (current begins flowing), the roomba's Raspberry Pi Zero 2W computer detects it, and Drive Mode is disabled until being re-enabled. |
| 18 | ||||||||
| 19 | When docking the roomba at 0% (this is the intended operation), the roomba will become locked, not able to be placed back in drive mode until it reaches 100%. The roomba can be unlocked by admins. |
20 | |||||||
| 21 | If you undock a roomba with no users on it or when its locked itll revert to the normal AI in the roomba, this is a inconvenience, do it as much as possible to annoy carpet |
